El Paso County commissioners approve $13.08 million in 2026 budget revisions
The 5–0 consent-calendar vote recognized $13.58 million in revenue and approved $13.08 million in spending, including $12.45 million in opioid-settlement funds.
El Paso County commissioners approved $13,082,189 in fiscal year 2026 appropriations and recognized $13,577,321 in revenue on Sept. 22. The largest appropriation is $12.45 million in opioid-settlement funds.
The commissioners approved Resolution 26-309 in a 5–0 consent-calendar vote, the meeting minutes show. Three other consent-calendar items were withdrawn before the vote: a $200,000 grant for Paint Mines Interpretive Park and two Eastonville Road property-interest items.
The revenue revisions include $12.45 million in opioid-settlement funds, $264,308 in Community Services Block Grant funding, $213,311 in County Parks Trust donations and $139,900 from fleet-vehicle sales. Other entries include $470,000 in drainage-fund interest for a basin-planning study, $6,670 in federal grant funds for the Office of Emergency Management, $25,104 in Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Funds deferred from 2025, and $28 in additional Justice Assistance Grant funding.
The resolution’s budget tables assign the appropriations to six accounts. They include $12.45 million for professional services in the restricted opioid-settlement budget; $264,308 for professional services in the Community Services Block Grant budget; $213,311 for professional services for the Trust for County Parks; and $6,670 for professional services for the Office of Emergency Management. The remaining appropriations are $139,900 for fleet-vehicle maintenance and $8,000 for the Veterans Expo through Veterans Services.
Recognized revenue exceeds appropriations by $495,132. That difference corresponds to three revenue entries without matching expenditure lines in the resolution: $470,000 in drainage-fund interest, $25,104 in deferred Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Funds, and $28 in additional Justice Assistance Grant funds. The resolution does not specify their separate disposition.
The same consent calendar also approved a separate $516,130 purchase of 10 Ford F-150 Police Responders for the Sheriff’s Office. That purchase is not included in the budget-revision total.
