The Woodland Park City Council is scheduled to consider an initial posting Oct. 15 for a zoning-code change that would create a separate category for public-safety facilities.

The proposed ordinance defines those facilities as government- or privately operated sites providing rapid-response services, along with space for emergency vehicles and equipment and for housing and feeding emergency personnel. Its recitals say the city’s Unified Development Code lacks a clear classification for these uses.

The draft would add the category to the code’s Table of Allowed Uses, assigning it different codes across zoning districts. The attachment does not explain what the codes P, S and G mean, so the specific review requirements for each district are not clear from the proposal.

The Oct. 15 council agenda lists Ordinance 1536 for initial-posting consideration and sets a public hearing for Nov. 5. Under the draft, a second and final reading would follow the hearing; the ordinance has not been approved.
