Manitou Springs City Council approved sending a proposed amusement-tax increase to voters on Nov. 3, 2026. If approved, the measure would raise the tax on ticket sales and admission fees from 5% to 9.03%, the city said in its recap of the Council action.

The tax applies to ticket sales and admission fees, not the city’s general sales-tax rate. The Gazette reported that businesses selling tickets for entry or experiences, including the Cog Railway and Manitou Cliff Dwellings, would be among those affected. The examples are not a complete list.

The Gazette reported that ballot language projects about $1.1 million in additional city revenue in 2027. That is a projection, not a guaranteed amount.
