El Paso County commissioners unanimously approved the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department’s 2027 budget on Oct. 13. The plan proposes no fee increases and projects an $845,536 draw from unrestricted fund balance to cover expenses above revenue, the department’s budget document says.
The budget projects $22,134,481 in revenue and $22,980,017 in expenses. The commissioners’ meeting minutes record the unanimous approval.
The budget also says the Regional Building Commission may adjust Building Valuation Modifiers, which convert project valuations into permit fees. That is a possible response, not a change approved as part of the budget.
The plan provides for up to four additional positions, bringing staffing to 146, and a cost-of-living increase of up to 5%, subject to available funds and economic conditions.
