Douglas County staff proposes $149,007 sidewalk and curb-ramp expansion
The proposed change order would add curb ramps, sidewalk and curb work at five roadway locations, with the county citing school safety and hazard reduction.
Douglas County staff is recommending a $149,007 expansion of Chato’s Concrete’s 2026 sidewalk repair and curb-ramp retrofit contract. The proposal would increase the contract from $2,902,257 to $3,051,264.
The work includes sidewalk and curb-and-gutter removal and replacement, 700 square yards of six-inch concrete curb ramps, 800 linear feet of six-inch curb and gutter, four concrete washout structures, five variable-message boards and $20,000 for minor contract revisions, according to the county’s Change Order No. 2.
The proposal identifies Flowergate Way and Stonegate Parkway; Summit View Parkway; Burntwood Way; Appleblossom Drive; and the intersections of East Parker Road and Miller Road. The county says the additions were developed with its Traffic Department for school safety and hazard reduction.
The proposal would use $99,007 from Business Unit 31684 in Fund 200 and $50,000 from Business Unit 31384 in Fund 230. It would add no contract days, leaving the stated completion date at Dec. 31, 2026.
The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to consider the change order at its Sept. 22 business meeting. The meeting agenda and cover materials list staff’s recommendation for approval; the proposal had not yet been approved as of Sept. 19.
