Cripple Creek council unanimously adopts Land Development Code
The pre-vote proposal described a code intended to replace three city-code chapters and set rules for land use, development and subdivisions.
Cripple Creek City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance 2026-09, the city’s Land Development Code, at its Sept. 30 special meeting. The official minutes record the motion to approve the ordinance and its unanimous passage.
The pre-vote ordinance described a nine-article code and zoning map intended to replace city code chapters 15, 16 and 17 and set rules for land use, development, subdivisions, infrastructure, natural hazards and enforcement.
An earlier draft of Article 3 proposed requirements for adequate water and connections to city water and wastewater systems, as well as a 25-foot buffer near wetlands and waterbodies. Those provisions are from the draft; the final text was not available to confirm whether they were adopted. The proposed ordinance set an effective date 30 days after final publication, but the final ordinance and publication date were not available to confirm when the code takes effect.
