Castle Rock police reported 1,183 offenses in the year to date through August 2026, including 885 property crimes, the department’s September report says.

The report breaks the total into 169 person crimes, 885 property crimes and 129 society crimes. Among listed offenses, it counts 26 sex offenses and 21 aggravated assaults in 2026, compared with 16 and 12 in its 2025 year-to-date column. It lists 25 burglaries, four robberies and 14 motor vehicle thefts in 2026, compared with 20, zero and 23, respectively, in 2025.

The September report’s 2025 year-to-date column lists 444 offenses, including 159 property crimes. The department’s July report, which showed figures through July, listed 810 offenses for 2025. That report also listed 1,029 offenses for 2026 through July, including 151 person crimes, 770 property crimes and 108 society crimes. The reports do not explain the difference in their 2025 figures, so they do not establish a like-for-like year-over-year change.

Both reports say person and property crime figures are reported for the previous month during the department’s transition to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). The Colorado Bureau of Investigation explains that the older Summary Reporting System counted only the most serious offense in an incident, while NIBRS can count each separate offense. That difference can affect totals, but the department reports do not establish whether it explains the change in their 2025 comparison figures.
